Candidates for HHSC Board - February 2012
Mark Langenderfer
My family and I have been members at HHSC for eight seasons and we have enjoyed our experience very much. HHSC is, and always has been, a great place for children to enjoy summer vacation in a safe environment. I would like to see this environment continue for my children, and those of our current and future members. Having three Heart swimmers has provided us the opportunity to get to know many of the outstanding families at HHSC and given us an added appreciation for the Heart experience. With those thoughts in mind, I am submitting my nomination to serve on the board at HHSC. My experience includes being a Special Agent/ Supervisory Special Agent in federal law enforcement for 21 years. My family and I have been involved in a number of activities at HHSC since becoming a member. Thanks for your consideration.

William Moffitt
My name is Bill Moffitt and I am requesting to be added to this year’s nomination for office positions. My family and I have been members at Heart of the Hills for the last 9 years. I have four children who have been active members of the swim team during that time. I have served on the board for the last two years as swim team chair. During my time in this position I have had to transition the team to a new swim coach and staff whose primary goals is to develop our swimmers in a fun but challenging way. The swim team has also added the following enhancements during this time, new lane lines, timing system, and for the upcoming year the swim team will make a significant contribution to the clubs PA system. My family and I have enjoyed the family friendly safe atmosphere at Heart. We have also made many friends over the years. I believe that my role on the board of governors’ is to ensure that quality of the club that we have enjoyed is maintained for future members and guests. Go Heart!

I am Jody Guastella Jones. . My husband Keith and I spend a lot of time at the club as it is a favorite summer past time for our three kids, Parker, Meghan and Juliet. We will celebrate our 20 year anniversary this year and have lived in Rochester for over 15 years. Our family has belonged to Heart of the Hills for 3 years I am a graduate of the University of Michigan Ann Arbor and hold an MBA in Finance. Currently, I am the Senior Diversity Consultant and University Recruiting Manager for the Talent Acquisition team for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan. One of my duties is to recruit, hire, onboard and evaluate over 160 Summer College interns every year. Additionally, I served on our subdivision social committee for 5 years coordinating a large number of holiday events for the homeowners. My interest in joining the board is to serve as the social chair for the club. Throughout my career, I have been involved in event and meeting planning and have led teams for corporate attendance at National events. This gives me the experience to not only conceptualize, plan and execute events but also the experience to engage and lead teams. I feel that I could bring my creativity and planning skills to the social committee for the clubs benefit. I have many ideas for low cost, fun activities that can benefit members and further build the sense of fun and community at our club. This position, in my opinion, should build and leverage a strong committee of members to execute a variety events throughout the summer. This network of volunteers is crucial to a diverse mix of activities and events that are appealing to a broad audience.

Greg Koos
My name is Greg Koos and I have a wife Melissa and 3 daughters-Isabelle, Louise and Maxine. My family and I have been members of Heart for four years. In those four years Heart has been become a part of our everyday summer life. My children are active on the swim and tennis team, and I co/chair the concessions at all swim meets. I spent many hours last year analyzing the concession area to determine how we could decrease expenditures, and increase our profits. My efforts were successful and resulted in increased revenue for the club. In my professional life, I am an executive of one of INC. 500 fastest growing technology companies. My experience and skills will transfer and allow for new fresh ideas and energy. As with any organization or club that has been around for any length of time, it is natural for that organization to become ingrained in its ways. It is very healthy to continuously bring in new team members to evaluate the current processes and infrastructure and bring in new ideas. Some ideas I have include improving communication with the club members. I feel that we could better utilize the capabilities of today’s technology to more effectively communicate the vision and goals of this club to its members. Also, during the summer days we need to integrate the general club members into the active swim and tennis team events. This year is the 50th Anniversary for Heart. It is the Board Members responsibility to oversee that the club continue to offer a healthy, growing environment for families to enjoy today, and in the future. If elected on the board, I commit to actively engaging in all communication and meetings. Also, as always I will be very actively and enthusiastically present at all events to support the board and the club.
